Politics: BMC Results Begin to Take Shape as BJP, Congress, Shiv Sena and MNS Open Accounts

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election results have started coming in, offering a clearer picture as early trends now convert into confirmed victories across key wards. So far, multiple parties have opened their accounts, reflecting a fragmented but competitive mandate in Mumbai’s civic battle. The first confirmed result came from Dharavi, where Congress candidate Asha Kale secured a victory, giving the party an early boost. Soon after, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction registered its win from Kurla, with Shaila Lande emerging victorious. Another key result came from Mahim, where the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction’s candidate won, marking a significant gain in a politically sensitive constituency. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) also opened its account with its first victory from the Kalyan-Dombivli region, where Prahlad Mahatre secured a win. Meanwhile, the BJP recorded its first official victory in Dahisar Ward No. 2, with Tejasvi Ghosalkar emerging as the winner. Her win has drawn attention due to her political journey, having switched allegiance shortly before the elections. As counting continues in batches of 46 wards, results from the first set are nearly complete, while counting is underway for the next batch. With 92 wards under active counting, the overall standings remain fluid, and the final political balance in the BMC is yet to be determined.
