The impact of continuous snowfall in the mountainous regions is being clearly felt across the plains, with Delhi-NCR experiencing an intense cold wave accompanied by dense fog. Despite the sun having risen and daylight fully setting in, thick fog continues to blanket the region, significantly reducing visibility and disrupting daily life. At Kartavya Path in central Delhi, commuters are facing severe difficulties while driving, as low visibility—ranging between 200 to 300 meters—has forced motorists to keep their headlights on even during daytime. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised residents to exercise caution while traveling, wear layered clothing, and adequately cover their head and feet to protect themselves from the biting cold. According to IMD data, minimum temperatures have dropped sharply across the capital. Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 4.3°C, Palam reported 4.7°C, while Aya Nagar also logged 4.3°C. These conditions confirm the persistence of cold wave conditions across Delhi-NCR. The weather department has issued a Yellow Alert for cold wave conditions, warning residents to remain cautious. IMD further stated that moderate fog is likely to prevail over the next few hours, with overall foggy conditions expected to continue throughout the day. Temperatures are forecast to hover around 4°C, offering little relief from the harsh winter spell.
