Kia India Carens ClavisNew Delhi: Kia India on Thursday expanded the Carens Clavis (ICE) portfolio with a new HTE(EX) variant, introducing additional comfort and convenience features across petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel powertrains. The new trim is priced at ₹12.54 lakh for the G1.5 petrol, ₹13.41 lakh for the G1.5 turbo-petrol and ₹14.52 lakh for the D1.5 diesel (all ex-showroom).
Sunroof debuts on 1.5 petrol
A key highlight of the update is the introduction of a sky light electric sunroof in the G1.5 petrol powertrain for the first time in the Carens Clavis range. The variant also adds fully automatic temperature control, LED DRLs and position lamps, LED cabin lighting and an auto up/down driver-side power window.
Kia said the HTE(EX) will be offered exclusively in a seven-seater configuration and positioned above the existing HTE(O) grade to deliver stronger value without a significant price jump.
Customer-led update
Atul Sood, Senior Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Kia India, said the variant was developed in response to customer feedback. “By incorporating comfort and convenience features that customers actively want—including the first-ever skylight sunroof in the G1.5 powertrain—and offering them across all powertrains, we are making the Carens Clavis lineup an even more compelling choice for families,” he said.
Broader appeal
The company believes additions such as FATC and enhanced lighting will improve the vehicle’s everyday usability and premium feel. Kia has been steadily widening the Carens portfolio since launch, using incremental feature upgrades to maintain momentum in the competitive three-row MPV segment.
With the new trim, the automaker aims to attract buyers seeking premium equipment at a relatively accessible price point, while strengthening its position in the mass-premium people mover space.
