BMC Elections 2026: Akshay Kumar and wife Twinkle Khanna cast their votes; say real heros 'should come and vote' - WATCH

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and his actress-authour wife, Twinkle Khanna got their day off to an early start by heading to a polling booth to cast their votes for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in Maharashtra.Akshay and Twinkle were among the first few celebrities to arrive at the polling booth at the Gandhi Shikshan Bhavan voting centre early in the morning to complete the process. After casting his vote, Akshay was seen showing off his inked finger to the paparazzi. When asked to share a few words of encouragement for fellow citizen to get out and vote, the actor told reporters, “Today is the BMC election… I would urge everyone to definitely vote so that we can choose the right person through voting.”

As reported by PTI, he went on to add, “As Mumbaikars, this is the day when we have the remote control. Therefore, all the people of Mumbai must come out and vote, rather than complaining later about things not being in good shape. Everyone should vote to elect the right people. If you want to be the real hero of Mumbai, then instead of dialogues, you should come and vote.”

Twinkle Khanna also shared her thoughts on participating in the electoral process. On her exit from the polling booth, she said to ANI, “I think it gives us a sense of control, a little bit of power over the narrative, and I am voting both out of habit and hope.”

About the BMC Elections 2026

Polling is being held on Thursday across 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra following an intense campaign. The elections are being closely watched, particularly in key urban centres including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nashik and Pimpri-Chinchwad, where the results are expected to shape local governance in the coming years.
