Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Pongal Mahotsav on the invitation of Union Minister of State L. Murugan, marking the harvest festival with traditional rituals and cultural symbolism. During the event, the Prime Minister performed Go-Seva and extended warm Pongal greetings to people across the country, especially the Tamil community. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi described Pongal Mahotsav as a magnificent reflection of Tamil culture and heritage. He emphasized that Pongal represents gratitude towards nature, farmers, and cattle, and embodies India’s age-old civilizational values. The Prime Minister noted that Pongal is no longer limited to a regional celebration but has evolved into a global festival, celebrated by the Tamil diaspora across continents. Highlighting cultural unity, PM Modi said festivals like Pongal strengthen national integration and showcase India’s diversity on the world stage. He praised the contribution of farmers to the nation’s growth and reiterated the government’s commitment to preserving traditional values while promoting inclusive development. The Pongal Mahotsav featured traditional customs, cultural performances, and rituals, offering a vibrant display of Tamil traditions. PM Modi’s participation reinforced the message of respect for regional cultures under the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
