India Raises Pakistani Drone Incursions at DGMO Talks, Army Chief Says LOC Fully Alert

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has issued a strong statement on recent sightings of Pakistani drones near the Line of Control (LoC), confirming that the matter has been formally raised during Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level talks between India and Pakistan. He stated that Pakistan has been clearly told that such incidents are unacceptable and must not be repeated. The remarks come after multiple Pakistani drones were spotted in several areas of Jammu on Sunday. According to the Army Chief, Operation Sindoor remains ongoing and the Indian Army continues to maintain full alertness along the LoC. He reiterated that India’s border surveillance and defensive posture are robust, with no operational gaps. General Dwivedi explained that the drones observed were small, low-flying devices, often operating with lights on and at limited heights. Around six to seven drones were detected on January 11, followed by two to three sightings on subsequent days. He assessed these as likely reconnaissance or defensive drones, possibly deployed to assess Indian troop movement or search for infiltration gaps. However, he emphasized that Pakistan would have received a “negative response,” as India’s border defenses remain strong and infiltration attempts remain unsuccessful. The drone issue was explicitly discussed in the DGMO talks, with India conveying a firm warning to Pakistan to exercise restraint. The statement underscores India’s heightened vigilance, especially in the run-up to sensitive national dates, and reflects New Delhi’s zero-tolerance stance on cross-border provocations.
