NEW DELHI: As turmoil in Iran polarised Indians, Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi on Monday said Iran must not fall as it is a friend of India, and those wishing its defeat are unaware that it will strengthen US bullying.Singhvi posted on X, “Iraq has fallen. Iran must not. Both were long-standing friends of India, consistently standing with us on Kashmir. A strong Iran has constrained Pakistan and checked Western overreach. Indians cheering its collapse confuse geopolitics with prejudice. National interest is greater than borrowed outrage.”He added, “Indians cheering the ‘fall’ of Iran may enjoy instant geopolitical schadenfreude. But geopolitics isn’t a WhatsApp forward. A weakened Iran strengthens Western hegemony and US bullying. National interest demands strategic thinking, not chest-thumping naïveté.”
