In a move highlighting his humanitarian approach, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued a royal pardon to 334 inmates, including Omani citizens and expatriates, as Oman marks the anniversary of his accession to the throne on January 11.The Royal Oman Police (ROP) confirmed that the pardon applies to inmates convicted of various offenses across the Sultanate. The beneficiaries represent a mix of citizens and expatriates, reflecting an inclusive approach with no restrictions based on nationality or type of offense. Authorities said the pardon is part of the national celebrations commemorating Accession Day, a key event marking Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s rise to the throne.Such acts of clemency are a longstanding tradition in Oman, where rulers extend pardons on significant national occasions. For the pardoned inmates, the royal decree provides an opportunity for reintegration into society and a fresh start, while reinforcing the Sultan’s focus on humanitarian principles and the well-being of his people.
