Malavika reflects on Vijay’s legacy amid Jana Nayagan delay

Malavika Mohanan reflects on Thalapathy Vijay’s cinema legacy amid Jana Nayagan delay, 'I’ll miss him on the big screen'

With Jana Nayagan widely believed to be Thalapathy Vijay’s final big-screen appearance, the postponement of the film has only heightened emotions among fans and colleagues alike. Malavika Mohanan, who shared screen space with Vijay in Master, has now spoken about what his presence in cinemas has meant over the years.Expressing the sense of loss many fans are feeling, Malavika said in an interview with India Today, “Like all his other fans, I’ll miss him on the big screen. Every time one of his films is released, it feels like a festival.”

“You have to be in Chennai to experience that electricity”

Talking about the unique frenzy surrounding Vijay’s films, Malavika underlined how deeply rooted his stardom is in Tamil Nadu. “There’s so much electricity and euphoria in the air leading up to the release. You really have to be in Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, to experience that. Very few actors can create that kind of atmosphere when their films are coming out,” she said.

“You don’t feel like you’re working with one of the biggest superstars”

Recalling her time on the sets of Master, Malavika highlighted Vijay’s grounded nature despite his massive popularity. “It was lovely working with him on Master. You don’t feel like you’re working with one of the biggest superstars. He’s very sweet, very humble, and an excellent listener,” she shared. She also spoke about his attentiveness and empathy, adding, “He genuinely wants to know about you. He listens, observes people, and has a very sharp sense of understanding.”

Jana Nayagan delay and what led to it

Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan was originally scheduled to release on January 9. Announcing the delay, the makers said in a statement, “It is with a heavy heart we share this update with our valued stakeholders and audiences. The release of Jana Nayagan, eagerly awaited on January 9, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control.”They further assured fans, “We deeply understand the anticipation, excitement and emotions surrounding this film… The new release date will be announced at the earliest.”

Malavika Mohanan wins hearts: Tells paparazzi at airport, ‘Mujhe mummy ke liye wait karna hoga’

The postponement followed delays in certification, with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) seeking cuts and muted dialogues. Despite the changes being made, the certificate was not issued in time, leading the makers to approach the Madras High Court. The court has reserved its order, effectively putting the release on hold. On the work front, Malavika Mohanan will next be seen in The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, which is slated for a January 9 release. Go to Source
