The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has declared Thursday, January 8, as an official holiday for staff working under the standard office hours system. The announcement comes in recognition of the Annual Police Day, a yearly occasion celebrated every January 5 to mark the contributions and dedication of police personnel across the country. In its statement, ROP clarified that the holiday applies specifically to units following the regular working-hours system. This ensures that administrative and office-based staff can join in the celebrations and commemorations, while maintaining efficiency in day to day operations. Despite the holiday, all police stations will continue their normal duties and provide services to the public 24 hours a day. Citizens and residents can therefore rely on uninterrupted support for emergencies, reporting incidents, or accessing routine police services. The Annual Police Day is a longstanding tradition in Oman, reflecting the vital role of the Royal Oman Police in maintaining public safety, law enforcement, and community service. By granting a holiday for staff while keeping essential operations active, ROP balances celebration with public responsibility, ensuring both recognition for personnel and continued support for the community.
