Day after police quizzed him in rape case, Class 10 boy found dead

PRAYAGRAJ: A Class 10 student being investigated for rape based on a complaint by the parents of a pregnant minor was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a field early Sunday, a day after police visited his village home in UP’s Kaushambi district to interrogate him.The boy’s family said he stepped out unnoticed the previous night after brooding over the FIR against him under sections 69 of BNS and 3 and 4 of Pocso Act (sexual assault on a minor). Kaushambi SP Rajesh Kumar told TOI the survivor’s family approached police after discovering that she was four months pregnant. She alleged the 18-year-old-boy coerced her into a relationship and got her to keep it a secret by promising to marry her. The FIR was registered on Saturday.
