'This you?': Kamala Harris' 2019 post goes viral as former VP condemns Trump's actions in Venezuela, says 'seen this movie before'

Former Vice President Kamala Harris issued a statement condemning Donald Trump’s action in Venezuela, only to be reminded of her 2019 post where she called the situation in Venezuela a crisis. “What’s happening in Venezuela is a crisis. The people who have fled Maduro’s dictatorial regime deserve safety and protection. As President, I would immediately extend TPS status to Venezuelans. It’s the right thing to do. America must show moral leadership in this hemisphere,” Kamala Harris posted in 2019TPS is a temporary protected status that allows nationals of certain countries to seek asylum in the US. Venezuela was granted the status in 2021 because of political turmoil and humanitarian collapse. The status was extended in 2023. The Trump administration revoked the status in 2025.

Chants Grip Caracas; Fear As Trump ‘Claims Control’ Over Venezuela & Its Oil | Watch

Reacting to Trump’s overnight military strike to capture Nicolas Maduro, Kamala Harris said it does not make America safer, stronger or more affordable. “That Maduro is a brutal, illegitimate dictator does not change the fact that this action was both unlawful and unwise. We’ve seen this movie before. Wars for regime change or oil that are sold as strength but turn into chaos, and American families pay the price,” Harris said. “This is not about drugs or democracy. It is about oil and Donald Trump’s desire to play the regional strongman. If he cared about either, he wouldn’t pardon a convicted drug trafficker or sideline Venezuela’s legitimate opposition while pursuing deals with Maduro’s cronies,” she said adding that Trump put troops at risk, spending billions, destabilizing a region and offering no legal authority, no exit plan and no benefit at home. MAGA commentators cheering for Operation Absolute Resolve pointed out that Trump did not put the troops at risk, as he claimed that there was no damage to the elite team that attacked Maduro’s palace. They also argued that the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration raised the bounty for Maduro to $25 million. The bounty was for any information that could lead to the arrest of Maduro. “It sounds like you’re angry that the Trump/Vance administration accomplished what the Biden/ Harris administration could not,” one wrote.
