'AI-generated Pakistani propaganda...': Hindu American Foundation responds to historian calling organisation 'far-right'

An intense digital clash is brewing as the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) finds itself at odds with historian Audrey Truschke over the issue of Hindu nationalism in the United States.

An online clash erupted between the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) and historian Audrey Truschke on the topic of Hindu nationalism in the United States. The dispute began after Truschke, in a social media post, said that there had been “many exposés” of the “far-right Hindu American Foundation.”She claimed that Hindutva is “an American problem” and said far-right hate harms everyone. To support her point, she shared a link to an article from Pakistan’s Express Tribune titled “Inside Hindutva’s American headquarters.” The article accuses HAF of promoting Hindutva in the US through legal action, lobbying, and narratives.HAF executive director Suhag Shukla responded on X and dismissed Truschke’s claim. Shukla questioned her credibility and asked how a historian could rely on what she called “AI-generated Pakistani propaganda” to attack Hindu Americans. “Let that sink in,” Shukla said. She suggested the article was not a serious or trustworthy source. The Express Tribune piece was published on December 28, 2025, cites reports from groups such as Rutgers Law School and Political Research Associates. It argues that HAF plays a key role in shaping US discourse around India and Hindu identity. Social media attacked Truschke, pointing to her past work on South Asia and alleging links to Pakistani or Muslim advocacy groups, including CAIR. HAF has long said it exists to fight anti-Hindu bias and to protect Hindu civil rights in the US. Netizens in support of Shukla said the claims unfairly target Hindu Americans and silence legitimate advocacy. The organization, on various instances, has condemned ‘anti-Hindu’ or ‘anti-Indian’ hate by groyperism & white nationalism
