Yamunanagar police swiftly arrest 20-year-old in case of sexual assault of 4-year-old girl

.

JAGADHRI: In a prompt action, the Jagadhri City police station team have arrested a 20-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl in a residential colony here. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting once again the vulnerability of young children and the importance of swift police response in such heinous crimes. According to police officials, the accused, identified as Pankaj Kumar, originally hails from Navanagar village in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar. He had been living on rent in the same neighbourhood as the victim, near Gauri Shankar Temple in Jagadhri. The crime came to light on December 25, when the girl’s mother returned home from the market to purchase groceries. She had left her four-year-old daughter alone at home briefly. Upon her return, the mother discovered visible injuries and marks on the child’s private parts. Further questioning and investigation revealed that the accused had entered the house during the mother’s absence and sexually assaulted the minor girl. The girl’s mother immediately lodged a complaint at the Jagadhri City police station. Acting on the complaint, a case was registered under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with other relevant sections of the law. Yamunanagar SP Kamaldeep Goyal formed a dedicated team from the Jagadhri City police station to track down and apprehend the suspect. Demonstrating rapid response, the team successfully arrested Pankaj within a short time. Jagadhri City SHO Virender Walia confirmed the arrest and stated that the accused was produced before a local court, where he was remanded to judicial custody to face further legal proceedings. Community leaders and child rights activists have called for greater awareness and preventive measures to protect children from such predators.
