The Indian automobile market is heading into a busy start to 2026, with January set to deliver a packed lineup of new car launches. From next-generation petrol SUVs to long-awaited electric models, manufacturers such as Kia, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Tata and MG are preparing to introduce as many as seven new or significantly updated vehicles. These upcoming launches bring sharper styling, more tech-heavy cabins, updated safety suites and a wide mix of powertrains aimed at buyers across segments.
Kia Seltos (Second Generation)
Kia will kick off the year on January 2, 2026, with the launch of the second-generation Seltos. Built on the new K3 platform, the SUV adopts a bolder, more upright design inspired by Kia’s larger global models. The front fascia is dominated by a wide grille with vertical accents, squared LED headlamps and a distinctive vertical DRL signature. At the rear, the number plate has been relocated to the bumper, while inverted L-shaped LED tail-lamps add a modern touch. The interior sees a complete overhaul, highlighted by a wide digital setup combining dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, along with a dedicated climate control display. Features include ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, Bose audio, 360-degree camera, wireless connectivity, OTA updates and Level 2 ADAS. Despite the new platform, engine options remain unchanged, with petrol and diesel choices paired to manual, CVT, IMT and DCT gearboxes.
Mahindra XUV 7XO
Launching on January 5, the XUV 7XO is essentially a facelifted XUV700 and continues Mahindra’s revised naming strategy. Styling updates include a new grille, reworked lighting elements and fresh alloy wheels, with design cues borrowed from the brand’s recent electric SUVs. Inside, Mahindra is expected to introduce a triple-screen dashboard layout and offer multiple seating configurations. Powertrain options are likely to carry over, with the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines, paired with manual and automatic transmissions. AWD is expected to remain available on select variants.
Skoda Kushaq Facelift
Skoda’s mid-cycle update for the Kushaq is scheduled for mid-January. The facelift brings revised bumpers, a refreshed grille and sleeker LED tail-lamps. Inside, buyers can expect feature upgrades such as a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS. Pricing is expected to stay competitive within the compact SUV segment.
New Renault Duster
Making its return on January 26, the all-new Renault Duster marks a fresh chapter for the brand in India. Completely redesigned, the new-generation Duster draws inspiration from the Bigster concept and looks far more rugged than before. It features Y-shaped LED lighting, muscular body cladding, squared wheel arches and a high ground clearance. The interior is equally new, with a rugged-themed dashboard, digital displays, wireless connectivity, ventilated seats and advanced driver-assistance features. While global models get hybrid and 4×4 options, the India-spec version is expected to arrive with a turbo-petrol engine.
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara
Maruti Suzuki’s first all-electric midsize SUV, the e-Vitara, will debut in January. Based on the new Heartect-e platform, it features a muscular design inspired by the eVX concept. Inside, it gets dual floating screens, a modern centre console and Level 2 ADAS.
The e-Vitara will be offered with two LFP battery packs—49kWh and 61kWh—with the larger unit delivering a claimed range of up to 500 km.
Nissan Gravite
Nissan will enter the sub-four-metre MPV space with the Gravite, a seven-seater based on the Triber platform. It will offer a practical 2+3+2 layout, an 8-inch touchscreen, multiple safety features and competitive pricing aimed at family buyers.
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV
Toyota’s electric SUV, closely related to the Maruti e-Vitara, is expected to be unveiled in January, with a market launch by March. It will feature two battery options, a long driving range, connected tech and Level 2 ADAS, positioning it as a premium electric offering.
Tata Punch Facelift
The Tata Punch facelift will bring refreshed styling, upgraded interiors and a larger touchscreen. While the petrol engine is expected to continue unchanged, the EV version may receive range improvements. Safety will remain a strong focus, with six airbags expected as standard.
2026 MG Hector Diesel
MG has already revealed the updated Hector, with diesel pricing slated for January. The update includes subtle exterior tweaks, new colour options and a refreshed cabin with an upgraded 14-inch touchscreen, gesture controls and enhanced connected features. Mechanical options remain unchanged, including the Fiat-sourced diesel engine.
