Khap panchayats in Rajasthan have sparked controversy after announcing strict social rules aimed at teenagers and families. The khap leaders have decided to ban the use of smartphones for teenage girls and boys, claiming that excessive mobile usage is harming discipline and social values. Along with this, restrictions have been imposed on wearing half pants, which they believe go against traditional norms. The khap panchayat also strongly criticized lavish and expensive weddings, stating that such celebrations lead to financial burden and food wastage. According to the khap leaders, these decisions have been taken in the interest of society, culture, and moral values. They further stated that the resolutions will be promoted as a social campaign by coordinating with other khap panchayats to ensure wider implementation across the region.
