White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Friday that she is expecting a baby girl, due in May 2026, calling the news “the greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for.” The 28-year-old shared the announcement in an Instagram post alongside a photo of herself standing next to a Christmas tree. Leavitt said she and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, are excited to grow their family and are looking forward to their son becoming a big brother. “My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother,” she wrote. Leavitt added that she is “so excited to be a girl mom.”Leavitt is already the mother of a one-year-old boy, also named Nicholas, who was born in July 2024 while she was working on President Donald Trump’s election campaign. She later joined Trump’s White House team and now holds one of the most visible roles in the administration, regularly briefing reporters in the White House press room. The White House said Leavitt will continue serving as press secretary after the birth of her second child. White House press secretary has previously said on Megyn Kelly’s podcast that balancing the role while raising two young children would be unusual for her, but that she would be able to manage it with strong support from her husband, the New York Post reported. Leavitt also spoke about how family has shaped her perspective while working in politics. “Becoming a mother in the midst of this very chaotic political world that I work in has been the best thing I could ever imagine because it gives you great perspective,” she said.In her announcement, Leavitt also thanked President Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support. “I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House,” she wrote. Leavitt further wrote, “My heart is overflowing with gratitude,” believing that motherhood is “the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”
