'Sensationalist': US DOJ dismisses 'credibility' of Trump mentions in Epstein files; nearly 30k pages released

The US Department of Justice dismissed claims speculating around US President Donald Trump being referenced in the latest batch of released Epstein files.”The Department of Justice has officially released nearly 30,000 more pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Some of these documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election. To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already,” it said in a post on X. This clarification came after a BBC report claimed that Trump’s name came up with him being listed as a passenger of eight private jets belonging to the disgraced sexual offender who died in 2019.The documents indicate that Trump was listed as a passenger on at least eight flights between 1993 and 1996. The information via an internal email dated January 7, 2020, which notes that Trump had travelled on Epstein’s aircraft more times than previously known. According to the email, Trump was on at least four flights that also included Ghislaine Maxwell. The records state that Trump travelled on the jet at various times with then-wife Marla Maples, daughter Tiffany, and son Eric. One 1993 flight reportedly listed only Trump and Epstein as passengers, while another listed Epstein, Trump, and a 20-year-old individual whose name was redacted. Two other flights included women identified in the email as possible witnesses in the Maxwell case. Trump’s appearance in the flight records does not, by itself, indicate wrongdoing. Trump has previously acknowledged knowing Epstein but has denied any involvement in illegal activities and has said the two fell out years before Epstein’s first arrest.
