Maharashtra News: Celebration Turns Tragic in Pune as Fire Breaks Out During Victory Event, Eight Injured

A shocking incident has been reported from Pune, Maharashtra, where celebrations following a local body election victory turned into a tragic accident late Sunday. At least eight people were injured after a sudden fire broke out during a victory procession, reportedly while turmeric powder (haldi) was being thrown into the air as part of the celebrations. According to initial information, party workers and supporters had gathered to celebrate the electoral win and were visiting to seek blessings when the incident occurred. Visuals from the spot show people joyfully throwing turmeric powder moments before flames erupted suddenly, causing panic and chaos at the venue. The fire spread rapidly, leaving several people with burn injuries. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is said to be stable. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Authorities are examining whether chemical-based turmeric powder was used, which may have contributed to the ignition. Another possibility being probed is the use of firecrackers, although officials noted that bursting crackers at the location was not permitted. Questions are now being raised about safety measures during public celebrations. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
