Man locks police escort in dhaba, flees; held later

A man accused of cheating Rs 1.1 crore escaped from the custody of a Haryana cyber police escort team after allegedly locking the police officers inside a room at a roadside dhaba in UP’s Hardoi district after Friday midnight, prompting local police to launch a search operation and nab the accused about five hours later. The incident came to light on Sunday. The Haryana cyber police team was escorting Manjeet Mahato from Charkhi Dadri to Rae Bareli. After eating at the dhaba, the team and the accused rested in a room. Mahato then allegedly locked the cops in and fled.
