Nissan Motor Co plans to enhance its presence in India by introducing three new models over the next 14-16 months, top executives said Thursday. The Japanese automaker also announced an aggressive expansion of its retail footprint, aiming to grow its sales and service network to 250 outlets by this fiscal year-end from the current 155.

Currently, Nissan sells just one model in India – the compact SUV Magnite – and has less than 1 per cent share of the domestic passenger vehicle market.

As part of its product launch plans, Nissan revealed the name of its upcoming seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) as Gravite. The new model will be the first of the three launches planned for India and is scheduled to hit the market in early 2026. This will be followed by the Tekton midsize SUV in mid-2026, and a new seven-seater SUV in early 2027.

“The upcoming line-up – shaped by global insights yet deeply attuned to the needs of Indian customers – reflects our commitment to this dynamic market,” said Massimiliano Messina, chairperson, Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe & Oceania) at a virtual press meet. “With new models developed in and for India, and exports to several international markets, India remains both a growth driver and a strategic hub for the Nissan Alliance.”

Messina added that India remains a strong contributor to Nissan’s AMIEO region performance, with the local entity playing a pivotal role in the automaker’s broader global plans.

Nissan Motor India managing director Saurabh Vatsa said the all-new Gravite is a testament to the company’s renewed focus on the evolving Indian market.
