On the design front, the Gravite will feature Nissan’s signature C-shaped grille and design elements aligned with the brand’s global design language.Nissan Motor India on Thursday said that its upcoming seven-seater B-MPV will be called Gravite, with the model scheduled for launch in early 2026. The vehicle will be the first product to roll out under the company’s refreshed product strategy for the Indian market.
The Gravite was first announced in July 2024 as part of Nissan’s renewed product offensive in India. The roadmap includes the launch of the Gravite in early 2026, followed by the Tekton SUV in mid-2026 and a seven-seater C-SUV in early 2027, underscoring Nissan’s efforts to rebuild and expand its India portfolio.
According to the Japanese automaker, the Gravite has been designed specifically for Indian families, with a focus on versatility, modularity and space utilisation. Nissan said the MPV will offer class-leading storage solutions and ultra-modular seating, designed to meet both daily commuting and long-distance travel needs.
Philosophy behind the name
The name ‘Gravite’ is derived from the word gravity, reflecting balance, stability and attraction, Nissan said, adding that the model is intended to resonate with the aspirations of Indian customers. The vehicle will be manufactured locally at Nissan’s Chennai facility.
On the design front, the Gravite will feature Nissan’s signature C-shaped grille and design elements aligned with the brand’s global design language. The MPV will also sport distinctive hood branding and rear-door badging, along with C-shaped elements at the rear, the company said.
Massimiliano Messina, Chairperson, Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania), said India continues to be a key contributor to the region’s performance and a strategic hub for the Nissan Alliance. He added that new models developed in and for India will support both domestic growth and exports.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said the Gravite marks a key step in the company’s transformation journey and reflects its renewed focus on the Indian market. He added that Nissan is also accelerating the expansion of its dealership network to support its growth plans.
