National Herald Case: Mallikarjun Kharge Calls National Herald Case Politically Motivated, Targets BJP and Central Agencies

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has described the National Herald case as politically motivated, directly accusing the BJP-led central government of misusing investigative agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the CBI to malign the Gandhi family. Speaking after the recent court judgment in the case, Kharge said that the entire legal action was aimed at harassing Congress leaders, particularly members of the Gandhi family, and undermining their political credibility. Kharge welcomed the court’s decision, stating that justice has been served and emphasizing that the case had no genuine legal basis but was instead orchestrated to create a negative narrative against the Gandhi family. He highlighted the repeated misuse of central investigative agencies as a tool for political vendetta, asserting that such actions are designed to intimidate opposition leaders. The National Herald case has been a point of intense political debate for years, with the BJP maintaining that legal proceedings were justified while Congress leaders have consistently claimed it is a targeted attack. Kharge’s statement reinforces Congress’s narrative that the case is an attempt to defame the party’s top leadership and distract from the government’s policy priorities. The Congress leadership welcomed the judgment nationwide, calling it a vindication of their stand and criticizing the central government for its alleged political overreach.
