Maharashtra News: Thackeray Brothers to Announce Alliance Before Nominations to Avoid Defections Ahead of BMC Polls

In a major political development ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Thackeray brothers are set to announce their alliance just a day before the nomination process begins. According to sources, the formal announcement is likely to be made on December 22 or 23 through a large public rally. The strategic timing of the alliance is aimed at preventing internal rebellion and possible defections of disgruntled ticket aspirants to rival camps, particularly the BJP or the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction. Sources indicate that the brothers have deliberately kept the seat-sharing formula under wraps to maintain suspense and avoid premature discontent within party ranks. While no official declaration or formula has been released yet, a series of closed-door meetings is currently underway, focusing on seat allocation and electoral strategy. The leadership believes that revealing details too early could lead to dissatisfaction and political damage at a crucial stage. Meanwhile, the Congress has distanced itself from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) framework for the BMC elections, indicating that it may contest separately from Uddhav Thackeray’s faction. This has further heightened political uncertainty in Mumbai’s civic polls. With nominations approaching, all eyes are now on the Thackeray brothers’ next move, which could significantly reshape the BMC election battle.
