VB-G RAM G Bill: 125 Days Job Guarantee Bill Sparks Political Showdown in Parliament

A major political confrontation has erupted in Parliament over the new rural employment bill, which increases guaranteed workdays from 100 to 125. The central government has introduced the 2025 bill to replace MGNREGA with the ‘Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin),’ also known as VB–G RAM G Bill. While the government says the move will strengthen rural employment and livelihoods, the opposition has strongly objected to the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name. With protests planned inside and outside Parliament, including nationwide demonstrations by Congress workers, disruptions are expected in the Lok Sabha. Opposition parties are demanding deeper scrutiny, while the government is briefing MPs to defend the bill’s key features.
