UAE: NCM predicts rain across Islands and Northern Regions on Tuesday and Wednesday

The country is experiencing a period of unsettled weather, with rainfall, clouds, and shifting winds affecting multiple regions. After showers late last weekend, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts intermittent rain and cloud cover through the week, alongside gusty winds and occasionally rough seas. Residents and visitors should remain prepared for localized heavy showers, dust, and reduced visibility in certain areas.

Weekend rainfall highlights

Rainfall started late Saturday night, first appearing over the Arabian Gulf and the islands, before extending to the coastal cities, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm AI Quqain, Ras AI Khaimah.By Sunday, the rain moved inland, reaching northern and eastern interior regions. The heaviest recorded rainfall was at Saqr Port with 12.5 millimeters. Showers varied in intensity across the country, creating a patchwork of wet conditions.Satellite and radar data on Monday indicated a decline in cloud cover, concentrated mainly over the sea, inland areas, and parts of the north and east. This reduction lowered the likelihood of further rain during Monday.

Midweek forecast: Light to moderate showers

The NCM predicts light to moderate rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, primarily over the islands and northern regions. On Wednesday, clouds will persist, with intermittent rain over the sea and far northern regions.Thursday and Friday are expected to see the final phase of rainfall, beginning in the west and gradually moving to Abu Dhabi late Thursday night and early Friday morning. During Friday, showers will extend to:

  • Northern regions
  • Al Ain city
  • Eastern areas

Cloud cover is expected to thin by Friday evening, mostly disappearing by Saturday. The chance of rain will be low, limited mainly to the far north, and daytime local clouds may appear due to residual unstable conditions.

Wind patterns, visibility, and sea conditions

Wind conditions will be southeasterly to northeasterly, later shifting to northwesterly. Speeds will be moderate to brisk, occasionally strong near cumulonimbus clouds. These winds may stir up dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility in some areas.Sea conditions will range from slight to moderate, becoming rough at times, particularly in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman when clouds are present. Boaters and those near the coast should exercise caution. Go to Source
