Over 800 cameras but only one footage of shooter from behind: Brown University shooter still at large after 30 hours

Over 800 cameras but only one footage of shooter from behind: Brown University shooter still at large after 30 hours

A series of missteps has now surfaced as the Brown University shooter who gunned down two students of the university is still not identified or caught even after 30 hours of manhunt. The authorities have now confirmed that there is no other footage of the shooter other than the one that was released immediately after the shooting. In that footage, a man of medium build could be seen from behind, offering no crucial lead. The investigators do not have any video showing the face of the shooter, even partially, as the particular building where the shooting took place was a very old building and did not have many cameras — though reports claim that the entire university campus has over 800 cameras. Providence mayor Brett Smiley said the video released to the public is the “clearest picture we have of the individual we believe to be responsible. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t other evidence.”“There was still a lot of evidence collected at the crime scene and throughout the investigation over the last nearly two days,” Smiley said.A person of interest from Wisconsin was taken into custody based on tips received but he was released as investigators confirmed that he was not the person. His name was leaked to the media, and for no reason, there were vicious claims about him on social media.

Donald Trump’s initial announcement that the accused was in custody

President Donald Trump led the first misstep in the Brown University shooting incident as he announced on social media that the accused was in custody. He corrected himself and added that the accused was not in custody. Around 13 hours later, the law enforcement confirmed that they had a person of interest.

Person of Interest release but name leaked

The name of the person of interest who was released as there was no evidence tying him to the shooting, was leaked to the media and social media hounded Benjamin Erickson. There has been a tussle between the local administration and the FBI as the local law enforcement hinted that FBI was dealing with the person of interest.
