Dhanashre Verma takes subtle dig at Yuzvendra Chahal

Dhanashree Verma takes subtle dig at ex-husband Yuzvendra Chahal, calls ‘podcasts’ her biggest fear: ‘Pata nahi kaun…kya bol de’

Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer-actor Dhanashree Verma’s marriage had once looked like a fairytale. The two tied the knot in December 2020 after meeting during the Covid-19 pandemic, when Chahal had approached Dhanashree for online dance lessons. But earlier this year, things took a sharp turn when news of their divorce became public. The separation, finalised in 2024, instantly created buzz with speculation and trolling. While Chahal had earlier discussed their relationship on a podcast, now, Dhanashree in a recent chat with Humans of Bombay has finally opened up.

Dhanashree reveals her unusual biggest fear

When asked about her fears, Dhanashree shared something unexpected. She admitted, “Pata nahi kaun kal uth ke podcast pe aa jaye kya bol de. So much fear with that to start off with.” She laughed as she added, “Mujhe bhoot se nahi dar lagta. I am not scared of ghosts. I am not scared of dark. It’s crazy, It’s true. I am actually not scared of ghosts, darkness, heights, nothing. But podcasts.”

Did Dhanashree Verma took a subtle dig at Chahal?

Her words seemed to be a subtle dig at Chahal’s recent podcast appearance. Not long ago, Yuzvendra Chahal had opened up about his personal life in a candid podcast with Raj Shamani. He spoke about his divorce with surprising frankness and even explained the reason behind his t-shirt that later went viral. One of the most striking memories from their divorce proceedings was Chahal’s choice of outfit. On the final day of their court hearing, he wore a T-shirt with the words “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” written boldly across it. The picture spread like wildfire on social media.Later, Chahal explained his decision on the podcast, “I just felt like I wanted to give one message and I did that. Because something had happened from the other end… I didn’t want to do it earlier but then something happened and I decided, now everyone can go to hell, I will do what I want.”

Dhanashree reacts to the T-shirt moment

Dhanashree recalled how even before she knew about the T-shirt, she was certain people would point fingers at her. “You know that people are going to blame you. Before I had even known that this T-shirt stunt had happened, we were all aware that people were going to blame me for this,” she said. When she finally learnt about it, her reaction was a mix of disbelief and humour, “Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyun pehna hai? (You should have sent it on WhatsApp. Why wear the T-shirt?)”

“Get the latest updates on Times of India, including reviews of the movie Coolie and War 2.”
