Rahul draws BJP fire as witness turns 'hostile'

BJP president J P Nadda(Left), Congress leader Rahul Gandhi(Right).

NEW DELHI: BJP president J P Nadda on Tuesday accused Rahul Gandhi of orchestrating the “vote chori” campaign on lies, as he cited a video of a woman who first claimed before the Congress MP and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav that names of six of her family members were removed from the draft voters’ list in Bihar but later retracted her statement.”I am still standing where my lie was caught. Truth was revealed and I made a joke of myself. I am still standing there,” Nadda posted on X, playing on the lyrics of a song to take a jab at Rahul, who is in the midst of a campaign in Bihar to highlight his allegations of “vote chori” by EC and opposition to its special intensive revision of electoral rolls in the state.Nadda’s post quoted a video by a user in which a woman is seen telling Rahul and Tejashwi that six members of her family are missing from the newly prepared draft roll. The woman is heard saying later that she was informed by some people in her ward that her family members were excluded from the list and she should tell Rahul and Tejashwi to get their names included. However, she said she was then told that their names were on the list. “We are unlettered villagers and followed what we were told,” she added.BJP has claimed that Congress’s attack on EC and its “baseless” allegations are an attempt to undermine constitutional bodies and democracy in the country as part of “conspiracy”.
