RS chair: Don't share expunged speeches on social media

Rajya Sabha

NEW DELHI: Amid disruption of proceedings over SIR, the chair in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday said videos of expunged portions of speeches should not be shared on social media. When the Mines and Minerals (Amendment) Bill was being taken up for discussion, BJP’s Radha Mohan Das Agrawal raised the issue of leader of opposition Mallikarjun Kharge sharing videos of his expunged speech. Earlier, vice-chairman Ghanshyam Tiwari allowed Kharge to speak while cautioning he should not raise any sub judice matter. Kharge tried to raise the demand for debate on SIR but the chair said it would not go on record as it is not related to the business.Opposition MPs staged a walkout. Agrawal said videos of proceedings, which included portions not on record, were circulated on social media. Tiwari said, “Arrangements should be made so that anything that is not a part of House proceedings should not go on social media through Sansad TV, or any other medium.” tnn
