“It’s not my community”: TheBurntPeanut denies fans targeted Ironmouse as VTuber Awards controversy unfolds

The fallout from The Streamer Awards 2025 continues to ripple across the VTuber world, with TheBurntPeanut now directly addressing claims that his community targeted Ironmouse with harassment after she publicly defended him. What began as a lighthearted celebration quickly turned into one of the year’s most heated online feuds, as fans and creators clashed over Peanut’s controversial win for Best VTuber, a title he has often joked about not fitting into. With emotions running high, the controversy has shifted from a debate over definitions to a broader conversation about respect, gatekeeping, and toxicity within the community.Much of the tension stems from long-standing divisions about what qualifies someone as a VTuber. Peanut’s minimalist “peanut face filter” persona, and his self-described “PTuber” identity, made some feel his victory undermined traditional VTubers who invest heavily in models, rigging, and artistry. When Ironmouse called the backlash “cringe” and congratulated him, it only heightened the conflict. Soon after, she reportedly began receiving threats, sparking accusations that Peanut’s fanbase was involved. With calls for accountability spreading across social media, the situation has escalated far beyond a single award.

Peanut denies harassment links amid growing backlash

Addressing the claims during a livestream, Peanut insisted the worst harassment directed at Ironmouse did not come from his supporters, saying, “It’s not my community.” While acknowledging that some viewers may have made minor comments, he said he had heard about far more disturbing messages, including death threats, and argued those responsible were people angry that Ironmouse congratulated him. He further inflamed tensions by referring to critics as “40-year-old men cosplaying as 15-year-old anime girls,” a remark that instantly sparked renewed outrage across VTuber circles. This clash has exposed a deeper divide within the VTuber scene, one that goes beyond Peanut’s comedic persona. Traditional creators feel belittled by someone who openly mocks VTuber culture, while Peanut’s supporters believe parts of the community take themselves too seriously and gatekeep who “belongs.” Ironmouse, meanwhile, finds herself caught in the crossfire, calling for less hostility as she continues to face harassment from multiple sides. What started as an award ceremony moment has now escalated into a full-blown cultural debate inside the VTuber world. As both fans and creators grapple with questions of identity, respect, and accountability, the controversy shows no signs of slowing. For now, TheBurntPeanut maintains his community is not responsible, but the tensions sparked by his win continue to unfold across the scene. Also Read: Australian teens can’t stream on Twitch anymore due to new regulations Go to Source
