Training aircraft skids off runway at Dhana airstrip

Bhopal: A training aircraft of Chimes Aviation Academy veered off the runway at the Dhana airstrip on Wednesday. The academy sources said the aircraft skidded after the trainee pilot “applied the brakes too hard” during landing. Eyewitnesses, however, offered a different account. They said the trainee attempted to land twice but pulled up suddenly each time.On the third attempt, the aircraft reportedly hit the ground, became unstable and went off the runway. The pilot was later seen stepping out of the aircraft. The aircraft is used for solo flights, typically flown by trainees who have completed 8-10 months of flying practice, officials said.
