‘I bet I’m the first’: Singer Jelly Roll breaks down as Craig Morgan surprises him with Opry invite on Rogan podcast — watch

An unexpected invitation left American singer and rapper Jelly Roll in tears during an interview with the podcaster Joe Rogan. Joe Rogan, in his show, surprised the singer with a video message from singer-songwriter Craig Morgan, inviting Roll to be the official member of the Opry. In the video message, Morgan recalled their first meeting at the Opry and said, “I need to say congratulations on all the great things happening in your career and to thank you for the positive difference you’re making in the lives of so many people who need the help. You’re doing great work, buddy. And I’ll never forget meeting you on the Grand Ole Opry and how much it meant to me to hear you say my music helped you get through some really tough times. That’s one thing country music does really well.””And who would have ever dreamed back then that I’d be back at the Opry house today to say, jelly Roll, you’re officially invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. It’s an honor to say welcome to the family, brother,” he added. After hearing the invitation, the singer broke down in tears and spoke about his relationship with Morgan and seeing him perform live for the first time at the Opry while still wearing an ankle monitor following his release from prison. But excitement soon took over as the reality of the honour sank in. “I bet I’m the first person to ever get invited to the Grand Ole Opry on a podcast!” he exclaimed. On Instagram, Jelly Roll wrote alongside a clip of the interview, “I’m honored beyond words and I can’t stop pinching myself. To everyone at the Opry, y’all are like family to me. To Craig Morgan, no matter how many times I say it I’ll never be able to tell you enough how much this has all meant to me.”In the podcast, Roll hugged Joe Rogan and said, “I love you, too. I love you, too, brother. Hey, Joe. That’s, like, don’t get no bigger in country music, bubba. Big as a kiss.”Jelly Roll’s official Opry induction date will be announced soon. The musician has performed at the famed institution numerous times over the years, making his debut in 2021, and then joining Morgan onstage for a special performance the following year. Just last month, he performed his hit song, “I Am Not Okay” at the Opry alongside kids from a local elementary school choir.
