Shatrughan reacts to Jaya Bachchan’s remark on paparazzi

Shatrughan Sinha reacts to Jaya Bachchan's ‘drain-pipe pants’ remark on paparazzi, 'Aap log pant bhi achhi pehente hain aur shirt bhi achhi pehente hain'

Jaya Bachchan’s recent comment questioning the dressing sense and professionalism of paparazzi continues to spark reactions across the industry. Days after she criticised photographers for wearing “drain-pipe type gande-gande pants” and behaving in an untrained, intrusive manner, veteran actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha offered a contrasting, light-hearted take.

Shatrughan Sinha’s warm reaction to paparazzi

At a launch event in Mumbai, Shatrughan appeared alongside Poonam Dhillon and surprised many by offering warm praise to the photographers present. Flashing his trademark humour, he told them, “Aap log pant bhi achhi pehente hain aur shirt bhi achhi pehente hain.”His remark drew laughter all around, prompting Poonam to say that with such cheerful energy, it felt as though “the new year has already begun.”

What Jaya Bachchan had said

Jaya Bachchan had recently stirred a heated discussion when she questioned why paparazzi did not dress more appropriately for public events. Half stating and half implying her discomfort, she said photographers often behaved unprofessionally and lacked proper training. She remarked that many of them turned up in “bahar drain-pipe type gande-gande pants pehen kar, haath mein mobile le kar,” insisting that carrying a phone does not give anyone the liberty to click pictures and pass comments.

She also reiterated—indirectly but unmistakably—that the casual behaviour of some photographers is what fuels her long-standing discomfort with intrusive, unregulated picture-taking.

Shatrughan Sinha’s recent screen presence

While Shatrughan Sinha has largely dedicated himself to public life and politics in recent years, his onscreen appearances have been limited. His last notable role was a cameo in Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se (2018), where he appeared as himself in a light-hearted sequence featuring several industry veterans.
