Dharmendra, the iconic and veteran actor, who passed away on November 24, just days ahead of his 90th birthday. he was adored not only for his on-screen brilliance but also for his warmth and simplicity, off-screen. Despite widespread fame, he never lost touch with his roots, earning the affectionate title of “the man of the soil.” His final journey was a quiet one, as his family decided to hold a private cremation away from the public eye. Fans, however, were left heartbroken, expressing their sorrow and disappointment over not being able to pay their last respects. ‘Dhurandhar’ star and veteran actor Rakesh Bedi recently opened up in an interview about the late actor.

Rakesh Bedi, who shared screen space with Dharmendra in ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’, recently opened up about the reason behind the legendary actor’s enduring popularity. In a conversation with Galatta India, Bedi remarked, “Dharam ji was extremely smart throughout his career.” He elaborated by saying that Dharmendra strategically chose to work with some of the finest filmmakers, including Hrishikesh Mukherji and Bimal Roy. “He worked with filmmakers like Hrishikesh Mukherji and Bimal Roy. He made sure to collaborate with the best directors. He did films like Satyakam and Anupama. But when he eventually transitioned into commercial cinema, he gained the image of a He-Man”, Bedi added.

Reflecting on Dharmendra’s nature, Bedi said that much of Dharmendra’s success was about his professional life, he was a very kind-hearted man with a big heart. He always kept his arms open for anybody and everybody who approached him, greeting people with a hug, sitting with them, and speaking to them — gestures that truly won people over.
