Journey Beyond to Add New Suites to Its Luxury Trains

Journey Beyond has announced the introduction of two new suites onboard its luxury trains, The Ghan, Indian Pacific and The Great Southern, in 2026. With first departures starting in April 2026, the introduction of the Australis Suite and the Aurora Suite is expected to redefine luxury train travel experience in Australia.

Design firm Woods Bagot has been appointed to create interior designs that embody Art Deco luxury while capturing a sense of the outback and the landscapes through which the trains traverse—an essential element in the Journey Beyond experience. Design elements include decorative timber accents, stone and marble masonry, iron filigree and coved ceilings. The design also references important moments in Australia’s pastoral history, acknowledging the role of wool merchants in Australian industry through sheepskin accents and saddle leather.

Both suites are generously proportioned, each with a separate bedroom featuring a queen-sized bed. In-suite, guests are treated to exclusive amenities including an unpacking service, pillow menu, a private bar, and more. Beyond the train, immersive experiences offer a deep connection to the surrounding landscape and culture.

The Australis Suite is three times the size of a Platinum cabin. It features a separate bedroom with a fixed queen-sized bed, a full lounge set, personal bar and an en-suite with double vanity and premium bath amenities. Additional highlights include a writing desk, closet and generous space to relax or welcome friends and family in-suite.

The Aurora Suite is double the size of a Platinum cabin, and features a fixed queen-sized bed, lounge set, closet and an en-suite with premium bath amenities.

Both the new suites offer the following:

  • Champagne Bollinger La Grande Année
  • Premium Australian wine selection
  • Personalized in-suite bar
  • In-room dining
  • Butler service
  • Luxurious bed linen, silk eye masks and pillow menu
  • A range of exclusive off-train experiences
  • Platinum Club lounge and dining carriage access
  • Private chauffeur for your arrival and departure of the train

Prices start from $7,850 per person for the Australis suite and $5,270 per person for the Aurora suite for a three-day journey on The Ghan.
