Bihar election result 2025: Opposition cries foul as Nitish-Modi pass 'litti-mus' test; blames 'vote chori', SIR

NEW DELHI: NDA on Friday passed its “Litti-mus” test with flying colours, nearing 200 leads and soaring past the majority mark in the 243-member Bihar Assembly. As BJP, JD(U) and other allies of NDA celebrated the thumping victory, Mahagathbandhan cried foul alleging vote manipulation.

Bihar says no to ‘naya jannayak’

As Biharis go “har baar Nitishe Kumar,” rejecting “naya jannayak” and closing doors for “jai-veeru’s jodi” this election season, NDA leaders gave credit to PM Modi’s government and Nitish Kumar’s governance. Union minister of state Nityanand Rai asserted that Bihar has “once again trusted the NDA’s development model.”

Mandate for PM Modi’s government and Nitish Kumar’s governance

“The people of Bihar have given NDA a huge majority. I want to thank the people of the state. People have shown that they want development for the state.

Election Results 2025

The people of Bihar have shown their faith in the world’s most popular leader, Narendra Modi. It has been proven today that Bihar stays in the heart of PM Modi and PM Modi stays in the heart of Bihar,” Rai told ANI.

M-Y Factor for NDA

BJP spokesperson Tuhin A Sinha echoed the same sentiments saying the results showed that voters rejected “Jungle Raj” and gravitated toward the party’s youth- and women-focused agenda. “This is as per our expectations. Voting was done against Jungle Raj. Our M-Y Factor – Mahila (Women) and Yuva (Youth) – is more impactful than their (Mahagathbandhan) M-Y Factor. It is unfortunate that RJD people are threatening and trying to turn Bihar into Nepal and Bangladesh. I think we will get more than 160-170 seats,” he remarked. Senior BJP leader Manoj Tiwari called the verdict against “divisive politics.” “This victory shows the trust people of Bihar have on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar, this is a win of trust…After becoming PM in 2014, Modi said that until purvanchal area is developed the whole country cannot develop. While Nitish Kumar is a politician which understands people’s needs, and that the people get benefits from the fruits of the land, that is the NDA government who has done work, and developed after a long time,” he said.

Opposition’s poor performance

However, the opposition INDIA bloc, which witnessed Congress dragging down RJD with it, called the “Nitish-Modi super show” a “deceit.” It pushed back sharply, alleging irregularities in the counting process. Congress senior leader Shashi Tharoor said that the figures were “a question of leading at the moment,” and the final assessment should be done after EC announces the results officially.Speaking to reporters, he said, “It’s a question of leading at the moment. They are leading by a rather large margin. But let’s wait for the Election Commission to discuss and disclose the results. I am sure that the party has a responsibility to study in detail the causes. But remember, we were not the senior partner in the alliance and that RJD also has to look carefully at its own performance. But I will say that on a matter like this, it’s very important that we look at the totality of our performance. Elections are about a number of factors.”Highlighting the issue of last-minute schemes, Tharoor said, “The women voters were certainly given some incentives just before the Code of Conduct. Whether we like it or not, unfortunately, that is legal under our laws. I am afraid this is not the first time that we have seen state governments doing such things, of giving benefits to certain segments of society. I don’t think it’s a healthy practice but we saw something quite similar in Maharashtra as well as other seats in the past.”

Anomalies at several centres, alleges Congress

Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram raised doubts, claiming sudden slowdowns and “anomalies” at several centres. He alleged that “server vans” and “irregular booth patterns” had raised suspicion among Mahagathbandhan workers.Reacting to the flop show of Congress in Bihar, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah alleged “vote chori.” Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot accused the poll body of “colluding” with the ruling NDA, alleging that cash payments, including “Rs 10,000 to women,” continued despite the model code of conduct.Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav called BJP “a deceit,” labelling the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise an “electoral conspiracy.” He warned that such “games” would not be allowed in other states, adding that his cadre — his “PPTV: PDA Prahari” — would remain vigilantly active. With counting still underway, the political atmosphere remains charged. The NDA celebrates a mandate they say validates governance and stability, while the opposition alleges manipulation. Go to Source
