NEW DELHI: The Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) on Friday drew a blank in the Bihar assembly results, failing to take a lead in any of the seats it contested in the Bihar assembly elections.According to the latest trends, VIP was trailing on all 12 seats where it had fielded candidates.As per the Election Commission’s website, Mukesh Sahni’s brother Santosh Sahni stood in eighth position out of 12 candidates in Gaura Gram.This comes despite Mukesh Sahni being projected as the Mahagathbandhan’s deputy chief ministerial face.Twelve candidates contested on the VIP symbol. Lauriya, Kesaria, Sikti, Katihar, Alamnagar, Gaura Bauram, Darbhanga, Aurai, Baruraj, Bihpur, Gopalpur and Chainpur were the constituencies where the party had fielded nominees.

The NDA has crossed the halfway mark of 122 seats, while the opposition Mahagathbandhan is trailing, according to the Election Commission of India.Based on leads from 238 seats, the NDA was ahead in 187. The Bharatiya Janata Party led in 81 seats, while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) was ahead in 80. Chirag Paswan’s LJP(RV) held leads in 22 seats.The Mahagathbandhan was trailing with leads in only 44 seats. Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) was ahead in 33 constituencies, while its allies underperformed in the early trends. Congress led in five seats, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation led in six as of 11:10 am.The counting operations are being supervised by 243 Returning Officers and an equal number of Counting Observers appointed by the Election Commission. More than 18,000 counting agents representing various candidates are present at the centres to monitor the process.Entry into counting centres is strictly limited to individuals with valid passes, and the use of mobile phones inside counting halls is completely prohibited.The election saw participation from over 7 crore voters who cast their ballots to decide the fate of both the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. Polling was conducted in two phases, on November 6 and 11.
