NEW DELHI: The Kishanganj Assembly constituency recorded a robust 79.93% voter turnout on November 11, as the region went to polls in the second phase of Bihar’s ongoing Assembly elections. The overall turnout across the state stood at 66.91%, marking a record surge in participation compared to previous elections.Located in the Seemanchal region, Kishanganj is among Bihar’s 243 Assembly constituencies and is witnessing a close contest between INC’s Qamrul Hoda and BJP’s Sweety Singh.

Congress eyes fourth straight winThe seat is currently held by Ijaharul Husain of the Congress, who is seeking re-election. Husain had won the 2020 Assembly polls, defeating Sweety Singh of the BJP by a slender margin of 1,381 votes, in a high-intensity fight that underscored the constituency’s competitive politics.
