Bahubali- The Epic’ fails to beat Sanam Teri Kasam’s opening day collection

Prabhas’s 'Bahubali- The Epic' fails to beat Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam’s opening day haul in Hindi

In a monumental comeback, SS Rajamouli’s ‘Bahubali – The Epic’ has set new re-release benchmarks, boasting the highest opening day earnings for any film making a comeback in Indian cinema history. Although its Hindi edition encountered fierce rivalry from ‘Tumbbad’, projections indicate a robust weekend haul, with the potential to become the most successful re-release of all time.

With just its opening day collection SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali- The Epic has set the record books tumbling, it has already become the 9th highest grossing re-released film in India and highest grossing day 1 collection for re-released film in India, but there are few mountains that are even difficult for Bahubali to scale. Bahubali- The Epic minted Rs 9.25 crore on its opening day with Rs 7.5 crore coming from Telugu version and Rs 1.4 crore from Hindi version and rest from Tamil and Malayalam. In comparison when Harshvardhan Rane’s Saname Teri Kasam hit the theaters during its re-release, its Hindi version stood at Rs 4.5 crore and it has become the highest Hindi collection for a re-released film and second highest collection for a re-released film beating Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli. In fact Bahubali- The Epic also failed to beat the re-release day 1 collection of Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad in Hindi as it collected Rs 1.6 crore on its opening day. But one simply can’t underestimate Bahubali and its connection with the box office. Going by the trends, the Hindi version is expected to go big over Saturday and Sunday as per date shared by online ticketing websites. And with that the entire picture can change. Bahubali – The Epic is well on its way to become the highest grossing re-released film in India. The film features, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan and Nassar.
