A major debate has erupted in the United States following the firing incident near the White House, with serious questions being raised over security and intelligence preparedness. Reports claim that a 21-year-old suspect managed to open fire near the White House perimeter, allegedly firing 25 to 30 rounds before being killed in retaliatory action by the Secret Service. The incident reportedly occurred near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, close to a security checkpoint. According to officials, one bystander was also seriously injured. At the time of the firing, U.S. President Donald Trump was inside the Oval Office holding discussions linked to ongoing tensions with Iran. Security agencies immediately shifted Trump to a secure zone. Analysts and former diplomats have now questioned whether repeated security scares involving Trump point to intelligence failures or reflect America’s broader gun violence problem. Former diplomat Deepak Vohra argued that America’s easy gun access laws and frequent shooting incidents make such attacks increasingly common, though he maintained the attacker never breached the inner White House security layers.
